Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American politician, attorney and vice president of United States. She is the first woman elected vice president, and she is also the most powerful female officer in American history. As a member of the Democratic Party, she has previously served as attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017, and as a United States senator representing California until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to being enlisted into the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and later the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003 she was elected the district attorney of San Francisco. She was elected Attorney-General of California in 2010 and was elected again in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California, from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election and became the 2nd African American woman to serve in Congress , and the only South Asian American American to serve in the United States Senate. She was a senator who worked for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. The path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. She gained a national profile due to her sharp questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings, including Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and was accused of sexual assault.
